Our Story

Creating memories for over two decades...

Part of the vibrance of Big Chill can be found in its history! From the 50's-70's, the building was Charlotte's first roller skating rink. Today, our venue sits exactly where those skates once rolled, and we’ve proudly preserved the original hardwood floors as a tribute to Charlotte's history.

In 1999 we moved in and originated as Charlotte's first and largest Motown/Rhythm and Blues/Classic Jazz dinner club, hosting celebrity acts ranging from The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Najee, Lavay Smith, Noel Freidline, The Avett Brothers, The Glenn Miller Orchestra to John Legend. Every night our guests’ fine dining experience was coupled with live music, making our venue an energetic, unique asset to the city of Charlotte.

As word spread, so did the demand for private celebrations. The venue’s spacious layout, charm, and built-in stage made it the perfect backdrop for unforgettable gatherings. Over time, we evolved into the special events venue it is today—a place where weddings, corporate events, galas, and milestone celebrations come to life.

What hasn’t changed is our heartbeat: creating incredible experiences that last a lifetime. From our legacy as Charlotte’s first roller-skating rink to our history as a beloved live-music dinner club, Big Chill remains a place where the good times roll and every celebration feels legendary.
