Our Story

Part of the vibrance of the venue can be found in its history. From the 40's-70's, the building was known as Cavalaris Village. At this time, the building consisted of a bowling alley, a pool hall, and Charlotte's first roller skating rink; which is where Big Chill sits today. In preserving the spirit and history of this time period, we continue to maintain all original hardwood floors from the roller skating rink days!

Big Chill has been creating great meals and memories for over two decades! In 1999 we moved in and originated as Charlotte's first and largest Motown/Rhythm and Blues/Classic Jazz supper club, hosting celebrity acts including The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Najee, Lavay Smith, Noel Freidline, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Glenn Miller Orchestra and John Legend.

Every night our guests’ fine dining experience was coupled with live music, making our venue an energetic, unique asset to the city of Charlotte. Over time, the spaciousness and charm of the venue led to a high demand for private events, transitioning the Big Chill into Charlotte's premier special events venue. This transition still allows us to do exactly what we love and do best: create good times and great memories to last a lifetime!
